Sons of Italy Football Club Code of Conduct

Contract:

Players, Coaches, Managers please read and sign this agreement. 

Team Mission:

It is the mission of the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club to provide a positive, competitive soccer experience for player and coaches. We emphasize long-term player development and team commitment. While winning is a priority in soccer, winning will not be placed above good sportsmanship (defined as respecting rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and one’s self) or what is best for the team or any individual athlete. It is our goal to create an environment that will benefit the individual as well as the team. We believe a positive team sport experience will ensure the long term viability and growth of the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club.

Expectations:

This Code of Conduct is a written contract between players and coaches to abide by the rules and regulations of the game. We expect all parties to maintain a positive attitude and uphold the ideals of fair play and sporting behaviour. This contract is more than just paper, it is the essence of our goals and objectives and thus, adherence to it is of primary importance. To participate in our team’s activities, all players, team coaches and team managers are required to agree to and sign this Code of Conduct.

Zero Tolerance Policy: All players, coaches, and team managers are expected to demonstrate sporting behaviour before, during and after games, scrimmages, and practices. The team has adopted a “Zero Tolerance Policy” towards verbal or physical abuse or harassment by anyone involved on the team in any capacity.

Players are expected to attend the majority of games. If you are intending to miss a game please notify the coaching staff ahead of time.

Player’s Pledge:

As a member of the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club I pledge to:

- Adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the Sons of Italy Football Club Constitution

- Support and display a positive attitude toward all teammates, coaches and manager’s at all times, both on and off the field.

- Be respectful to opposing players, my teammates, coaches, fans, and game officials at all times.

-Refrain from using abusive and/or taunting language or actions while at practice, before, during, and after games.

- Support the team and other teammates by following the game while on the sidelines.

- Cheer positively and encourage my teammates, but DO NOT shout instructions.

- Avoid any confrontation with game officials, your own teammates, coaches, or opposing team parents and will refrain from any unsportsmanlike behaviour including verbal or physical abuse or players, coaches, game officials, and spectator at practices, before, during, and after games.

- Inform coaches in advance of any practices, training sessions, games that you will need to miss or arrive late to. Email is the preferred form of communication however phone calls work too.

- Arrive on time and prepared for practices and games. On time means on the field; prepared means ready to listen, with ball, shin guards, water, and appropriate attire.

- No discussions about playing time immediately before, during or immediately following a match.

- Discuss all issues privately and at a time away from the game, teammates, and spectators

- Help pick up equipment at the conclusion of training sessions or matches.

- Represent the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club in a respectful manner at all times.

- Practice hard, play hard, have fun, and strive to do my best regardless of the score or the behaviour of opponents and fans. As a player on the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club, I agree to these guidelines.

Manager / Coach’s Pledge:

As a manager / coach of the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club, I pledge to:

- Adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the Sons of Italy Football Club Constitution

- Make the health and safety of all participants my number one responsibility. I will never place the value of winning over the safety and welfare of the players.

- Support and display a positive attitude toward all players and parents at all times, both on and off the field.

- Respect the opponent’s players, coaches, managers, fans, and game officials at all times.

- Be prompt and at the field before the scheduled practice and game time.

- End practice promptly at the designated time, showing respect for player’s personal and family responsibilities.

- Give players as much notice as possible, by email, of any changes in schedule (day, time or location).

- Be a positive role model and set the standard for sportsmanship.

- Keep the sport in proper perspective with each player’s other responsibilities: personal, family, work

- Develop each player’s appreciation for the game. Players will have fun and receive positive, constructive feedback. As a coach of the Sons of Italy Hamilton Football Club, I agree to these guidelines.
